WHAT'S THE ORDERING/PICKUP PROCESS?

  1. Create an online account making sure to include your phone number/street address/payment preference, otherwise our website will not allow you to create an order
  2. Find your favorites, select the quantity and "add to cart". The dollar amount listed is an estimate based on the average weight of each cut
  3. Note any special requests in the Customer Comments Section
  4. Click on "Place Order" then keep an eye on your inbox for our "Order Confirmation" email.  If you do not receive this email, it's likely because your phone number/address is missing from your customer profile and you will need to provide this information before we can continue
  5. Once your order is packed, it will be adjusted to reflect the actual weight of each product. Unless your account is set to "pay at pickup", the card you have on file will be charged and you'll receive an "Order Packed" email.  Orders containing 1/4 Bundle or more must be picked up by appointment. For all other orders, if JNelson Farms has been selected as your pickup location then the Order Packed email is your cue to swing by the farm at your convenience and collect your order from the order pickup freezer located inside the Market building
  6. Order pickup schedule will be determined by the location you selected as your default location.  Orders containing 1/4 Bundle or more must be picked up by appointment (text your first name, the words "bundle pickup" and your proposed day/time to Jon at 989-859-9670).  All other on-farm pickups will be available dawn till dusk seven days a week from our little white Market building. Birch Run and Oak Park pickups follow a monthly schedule

WHAT PERCENTAGE FAT IS YOUR GROUND BEEF? We do not add fat to our ground beef so the only fat present is that which naturally occurs in an individual animal (our processors tell us it’s approximately 80% beef and 20% fat (80/20).  One chef told us that our burger “eats like a steak”!

DO YOU SELL HAY? No, we have a lot of mouths to feed!

DO YOU USE ANTIBIOTICS, GROWTH HORMONES OR VACCINATIONS? We never use growth hormones nor do we vaccinate cattle.  Careful breed selection and attention to the genetics of our herd has resulted in animals that thrive on pasture year-round and live free from the respiratory problems that can plague cattle raised indoors/in confinement.  That said, we also strive to raise livestock humanely and sometimes it becomes necessary to seek veterinary care (including antibiotics). On the rare occasion that an animal requires antibiotics, careful record-keeping makes it possible for us to track tag numbers/treated cattle and keep them out of the inventory we offer to customers who value a "zero antibiotic" product
